I was the only child for 8 years until my parents decided to “give” me not one but TWO siblings for companionship. Since i was young, my family stayed in a 3 room HDB flat in Tampines. As you know, 3 room flat consist of only 2 bedrooms and i have to share a room with 2 pesky sisters…
So it has always been my dream to have a place of my own!!
After 5 years & counting of courtship and a simple but lovely proposal from my man, we decided to bring our relationship to the next step. And of course, the very first thing on our mind is to fulfill my dream of getting a place of our own. With some serious calculations and weeks after weeks of searching and home viewing, we finally nailed down our dream nest.
Its a 72sqm 3 room HDB in Mei Ling Street!! Valuation at S$348,000 and with cash over valuation of S$5,ooo, we are officially the owner of them! Its a old estate (39 years!!!) Everyone is asking why are we forking out such “ridiculous” price for small and old flat but i guess we are paying for the location and high floor with paranomic view.. Its a upgraded estate with lift on every floor and the multi-story carpark is just below the block. On top of these, its a point block which means i do not have any window by the corridor!! Then neighbourhood is relatively quiet (regardless of the time) and there is a wet market and food centre, NTUC, coffee shop within 2 minutes of walking. The MRT is around 5 minutes walk and its sheltered all the way! The only “disadvantage” is that there is no bus stop within the area but thats not our concern cause we are driving!
Now it will be time to visit more IDs and shortlist one of them to create my ideal home with my pathetic budget!!
Stay tuned for more updates on the renovation progress and furniture bargains hunting…
Before we end the post, here’s my floor plan (pardon the blurry picture as its taken with my hp.. i cant load the actual pdf file of the floor plan)!!
